about

Picked right.

Or put right.

We pack every box with thought and care.

If you're not happy with the quality of something, just tell us.

We'll replace it or credit it, no worries.

This is our freshness commitment to you.

Something not right in this week's box? We'd rather know.

We do everything we can at our end. We pick at the right time of day. We store it in our cooler. We aqua-cool. We keep the soil on. All of it designed to maximise freshness and taste.

tips

How to make sure it stays fresh your end

  • Unpack and sort. Ten minutes on delivery day makes everything last longer. Leaves in the fridge, roots somewhere cool and dark, cut herbs in a jar of water. You can find storage tips online for almost anything.

  • Earth stays on. Soil is not the enemy. Your carrots and roots arrive fresh from the farm with a bit of earth still on them, and it's tempting to wash them straight away. That earth is a protective layer, and leaving it on keeps them fresh for far longer.

  • Take the tops off. Carrots and beetroot roots stay fresher once the tops come off and you can eat the tops anyway.

  • It doesn't all have to live in the fridge. A bowl of squash will happily sit on the counter, and tomatoes you're using in the next few days don't need chilling. Seasonal veg is a nice way to brighten up a kitchen.

  • Greens come first. Salad and leaves are freshly cut and happy in the fridge for several days, but they're still worth using before the roots, alliums and brassicas, which will take roasting or a soup a week later.

  • Feel free to adjust your box size. If you're not getting through it and its getting past its best, drop a size for a few weeks.

We love crinckled winter spinach which is tad cripsy. It has the most flavour.

We say yes to

In the box

  • In the box

  • Crinkled, uneven leaves

  • Odd shapes and sizes, curved or forked

  • Earth still on the roots

  • Small marks and nibbled edges

  • Curvy cucumbers, wonky carrots

We say no to

Not in the box

  • Mould

  • Rot, slime or a sour smell

  • Anything that's collapsed rather than wilted

  • Lots of yellowing on the leaves

If anything in the second list turns up, tell us. We'll replace it or credit it, no debate. A photo helps us work out what went wrong in the field or the packing shed. It isn't proof, and we'll sort it either way.

T&Cs

We take you at your word. We're a small farm, so if refunds become a regular thing on one account, we'll start asking for a photo before we credit it. That's the only condition.

This covers anything that isn't right with an order: quality, something missing, something damaged on the way, or the wrong item.

Tell us by email within a week of delivery. Reply to your delivery email, or write to [email protected].

We'll replace or credit the item itself, not the whole box. Which of the two depends on the item and when we can next get it to you.

It covers orders collected from us as well as delivered ones.

None of this affects your statutory rights.
